Priorities

Man... sometimes I have messed up priorities... today would be one of them.

Now, you may sometimes here me joke about my priorities being "God, Michigan football, family, friends, work, etc."

Well... it isn't really. I love Michigan football. We all know this. I don't hide this. However, do I need to get a grip on what is important.

This year I bought tickets from a senior who didn't want them, and yea, I had magically had tickets to all the games. At the beginning of this week I told them to send them to me... yet, I gave her the wrong zip code!!! AHH!!!

And, I didn't realize this until today...

and, now I am all worried... what if they are lost forever. How tragic would that be... and I am all worried, and I am letting it consume my thoughts. (ok, so I am being a little dramatic in this post, but you get the point).

But, I am not lying... it is consuming my thoughts.

I have called the ticket office to see if they replace lost tickets (they don't... but I may call to see if they replace ones that are lost in the mail...). I have called the post office to see what happens if the wrong zip code is used (they try to deliever it based on city, but if they can't they return to sender), but who knows. And now I am running every possible scenario through my head.

Will someone please just slap me and help me get my priorities straight. I mean... really! Starving people... Dafur... those without homes still in New Orleans and Mississippi... Iraq. This is small potatoes. And, yet, I am consumed.

Partly because it is something important to me... but really, I should just let roll. Just my random thought for right now.

Waiting on the Lord

This is something I have been meaning to write about now for over two weeks... see I really do procrastinate!

Every time I go to Michigan, I get sooo nostalgic. I went about two and half weeks ago, and of course, I got way nostalgic (PS, Congratulations to Paula and Ross, about time you two got married!). I always walk away thinking "I could find a job up here. Move back right now. It will be like college again."--> HA! Things change...

Then, I need God to bring me back to what He has been telling me for the last year. He has called me to North Carolina. He wants me to put down roots, to LIVE here. I may not like my job, but this is what brought me to the place where He wants me. That much I know, and have felt this since I moved down here. That lesson, or confirmation, just gets a little cloudy every time I go back because I loved Michigan so much, and I loved my time there, and I love the people there.

Well, God never ceases to keep me reminded of what He has told me...

a couple of days after I got back, I went to The Gathering, one of the points in Brian's talk that night was:

"In Light of His Sovereign Power Over All Things, We Can Learn to Patiently Wait in His Determined Place, at His Determined Pace"

WHOA.

Yes, so I am learning to wait in His Determined Place (me in Durham/Raleigh right now) at His Determined Pace (I don't know when I will be out of the job that I am not in love with BUT, I won't be He forever. I know that).

God, thanks for reminding me of your truth, teaching me patience, and allowing me to be comforted even when I don't fully understand.

blah...

So, i don't really even know. I guess I just have a lot of thoughts and feelings swimming around up in my head right now, and I need somewhere to empty them.

To be honest, right now, I don't know how I feel. Disappointment maybe? But, it sorta feels like I am disappointed with where God has me at right now... maybe that is it. I don't know.

I am not disappointed with God in the sense that I don't trust His plan...

I guess I am just impatient. I want certain things on my timeline and in my way... and it isn't happening. And, I guess... I am just disappointed.

Maybe it is just a good case of the comparisons....

"well, if I had job at a place I liked..."

or

"if I had someone who even showed an interest in me..."

or

"if i was as cute or as skinny or as outgoing as so and so..."

BUT, that isn't how life works.

Just feeling blue with where I am at. A job that I don't love, some days don't even like. Life full of friends, but yet, sometimes I still feel lonely. So, all in all, today is just a day I feel disappointed with where I am at right now.

I must say though, I have never been good at being content with what I have and being patient with God's plan. I do trust that He has something bigger and better for me than where I am at right now. Somedays it just doesn't feel like it.

And, today is one of those days. I have shared this with God... I feel you have to be honest with Him. And, now, I just need to empty my head some more... and you all are the lucky recipients.

So... yea... blah.

Belle

My kitty may be the cutest thing ever... well, I think so.

Update on how great she is...

She slept with me in my bed for the first time last night. Typically she just sleeps on the couch or in the chair by my desk. But last night she decided to hope up on the bed... and the best part, she didn't just sleep on my feet. No, she went for sleeping up by my arm. She is turing into a lover I tell you!

I love my cat... she has me wrapped around her paw, that is for sure.

What happens in Vegas...

... does not stay in Vegas when you go with your family... or you are me and nothing would happen anyway.

BUT, I just got back yesterday (well, middle of the night Tue/Wed) from Vegas. I went with the family, and I must say that was pretty fun.

Vegas pretty much is sketchy and seedy and yea... but if you stay away from the "trading cards" (ummm... don't ask) and ignore all billboards/ advertisements. But, other than that, I had a great time.

The evening we went to see Martina McBride... and I thought it was awesome. I don't think my brother shared my views ("If she says for the girls one more time..."). But, I had a great time... Martina is one talented singer, that is for sure. And, I love her music, as well, not all women, but most women do. Fun times...

Saturday must have been the longest walk of my life. Just so you know, the strip seems pretty close together when you are on the 21st floor of your hotel and looking out at it... but when you go to walk it, much longer. We walked four miles in the hottest time of the day. YIKES! In the evening we went to the Stratosphere and rode the Big Shot... on top of the hotel... which was 112 stories into the air. Ummm.. pretty much scary, but AWESOME.

Sunday we drove to the Grand Canyon, which I had never seen before. I LOVED it... you want to talk about beautiful! Stunning, in fact.

Ummm, what else? The hotel we stayed at was the Mandalay Bay, and it was absolutely amazing. It had a wave pool and a lazy river, and I had a great time catching some rays.

Also cool... Ross taught us all how to play Craps. And, he won be $80, so I came back a little bit richer. I am ok with that, I must say. After learning and "playing" for a while, I can see how gambling can get a bit addictive. When you are winning, you just want to keep going. It is definately important to make sure that you set limits.

Oh, and just another thought about Vegas. It is noisy. There is really no such thing as peace and quiet in the Vegas.

and in the Vegas, they don't seem to card. Not once, did I get carded. They certainly know where they make their money... gambling and drinks.

So, there you have it. My trip to the Vegas with the Family. Fun times!
