Sorry, I have been MIA the last week or so! I was up in Michigan for Thanksgiving. There was some painting of the cottage... there was some great food with the family... there was even some very sad, heartbreaking Michigan football.
But, now I am back... and ready for the Advent season... my favorite time of year! I even woke up to a great winter morning... frost on my windows, about 30 degrees. I can just feel the anticipation! Hope it doesn't fly by too quickly...
I have some free time tonight. Maybe I'll put up my Christmas tree. I wonder if the roommates would mind. Do you think they will?
While I work on other posts for you (yes, I have many in the works), here is great article on my favorite new TV show, Glee. Yes, they show has some very questionable content... but it is also great. Snarky comments and some hearwarming (and very cheesy) teachable moments.
Happy December 1st everyone!

Glee!
Ok, I am going to admit it. I love the new show Glee. I can't help it! Is it ridiculous? YES! Is it far-fetched and unrealistic? YES! But are the dance numbers awesome! YES! And, are the parodies they make hilarious? YES!
So, I love it. And DVR it so I can watch the dance numbers over and over.
Really, I am 12 at heart. I have mentioned that before, right?
Anyway, here are a couple of the songs/numbers that have me on the edge of my seat...
What about you? Do you like Glee? Have you given it a shot?

19!!!
With my stand against Jon and Kate, I had to find a new family to love. (although, I still love Jon and Kate plus their 8, but I just think the family needs to take a step back and reevaluate their priorities...).
ANYWAY, that new family is the Duggars. I have always been fascinated, but more and more I respect them. I am not saying I want 19 children... or agree with everything they do; but, I see in them a family who loves Christ and strives to be like Him. Here is a video from this morning announcing that they are expecting baby number 19.
WHOA! Who has 19 children? Evidently the Duggars. Excited, but also floored. Do you watch the Duggars?

Jon and Kate... no more.
I think I wrote a blog post about Jon and Kate semi-recently.
This whole situation just makes me sad. For so many reasons... the children... the testimony that they no longer have... what celebrity can do to a marriage... so much to say and it all is sad.
I find it very interesting that most of the people who I know that watch the show will no longer watch it. All over Facebook the status messages have read: "stop watch Jon and Kate." "sad for Jon and Kate, for now I say good-bye." People don't want to watch this, watch the kids go through this, watch something where there was hope go down in flames. I certainly don't.
As of last night, I am no longer watching Jon and Kate. I still pray that God will change their hearts and that God will repair their marriage. I think that is the saddest part! They made this marriage in front of God, a covenant and it can't just be dissolved like that. Sorry, I digress.
There were lots of articles today that I found interesting. But as of this morning... again, I will stop reading the articles. I am only one person, but in order to help the kids as much as possible, they need to step (or be forced out of) the limelight. I'll do what little I can.
Join me in praying for them.

Jon and Kate Plus 8
Update: Here is Kate's reaction. I commend her- I think she handling this all very well. I hope the family can continue to support each other and do what is best...
I love Jon and Kate Plus 8. The kids are just too adorable; I want to be friends with them!
Anyway, all the recent tabloid talk just makes me sad. Not because I believe the stories or because I should even have an opinion on their life.
It makes me sad for the family, for Jon and Kate, for the stress the show and the rumors (whether true or not) are having on the family. I am sure it is getting talked about at school (poor Maddy and Cara); I am sure they can see the photos in the magazines when they go to the store. It can't be easy.
I wish that our culture knew when to stop digging into celebrities' lives. Yes they signed up for fame when they did they show, but they didn't ask to be followed by hungry paparazzi, looking for the best way to cause a sensation.
And yes, I realize by even commenting on the stories, I am only feeding the frenzy and given the magazines a reason to continue to hunt the famous. I just wish we could draw a line and respect it.
Join me in praying for this wonderful family. Their faith does get to shine through and I just pray that God uses this to draw the family closer together, not rip them apart.

The Bachelor- My Reactions
Before this past January, I have only watched one season of "The Bachelor." It was the Jen and Andrew Firestone season. (I am still bummed they didn't work out, but not surprised).
It all changed in January though. My friend, Rachel, came over one Monday and got me hooked. I just couldn't resist- especially when they showed Deanna coming back on to say "I made a mistake." WHAT?!?! my curiosity went. And I was hooked on it- trash and all.
Now, before I write my response... just know this. I don't really think any couples from this show are expected to last. WHY? Because the whole show is just unreal. It takes what is a hard process (getting to one another) and puts it in a pressure cooker and then adds jealousy to the mix. Just doesn't equal good things for the future of the relationship. Trista and Ryan (the only couple to make it down the aisle) seem to have good heads on their shoulders, and I do hope they last forever. But, they seem to have the most healthy approach to why they went on the show and talk about how hard it is to make the relationship last. Most people go on the show, in my opinion, to use it to get booty (sorry, don't know how else to say it) and to get their 15 minutes of fame.
Back to this season- so I wanted Jason to pick Melissa. True to what the girls said on "After the Rose Ceremony Part II", Melissa was America's Sweetheart. I loved her and I honestly thought that she would be good for Jason (from what little I could observe). So when he picked her I was stoked...
And then he had to go dump her on national television. Jackass. Excuse the language but that was my honest opinion. Of course now that it has been a week since then, I am learning more and more about Melissa and Jason has at least talked about the relationship ending. But still- it was a class-less move.
If he really had doubts, why did he ask in the first place? If Molly's true show of emotion after her dumped her the first time hit him so hard, why didn't he take a step back and just say 'I choose you.' You don't have to get down on one knee. AND then to top it all off, he cries when he lets Melissa go but then is all ok with kissing Molly soon after dumping his fiance? Seems to me that this man doesn't know what he wants and can turn off his emotions pretty quickly.
Maybe they will work out, and part of me wants them to (watching the second "After the Rose Ceremony" I can see they do have chemistry), but I am still mad. He hurt Melissa and wasn't honest with anyone. Not to mention, he is dragging the Ty (his son) through all of this.
I do have to say- Naomi on Part II- man, I was loving her. Go Girl! She said it like it was. She went up a couple of notches in my book.
Ok- enough on that show. Hopefully I won't ever get addicted to another season of "The Bachelor." We'll see...
What is your guilty pleasure?

ER
I never watched ER on any semi-regular basis. I mean, up until this year I thought it had ended a couple of TV seasons ago. BUT, no... it is in its 15th (and final) season. About time, is what I say! Does anyone still watch it? I might catch a rerun on TNT if I am home sick for the day- but I don't think I have ever watched it at its Thursday, 10 pm time slot.
Well, this article from People.com says that George Clooney is returning at some point during the last season, and last episodes. I have to admit... that is really cool of him. I am sure that George Clooney has an ego- I'll place money on it. However, I do appreciate his attitude when he is interviewed... he enjoys joking, loves the sarcasm... and never seems too big for his britches. Instance? This will be the second time he returns to the show that made him a household name. I just think that is cool... shows some humbleness and appreciation. Just like when touring bands share the stage together (favorite instance of that? Sugar Ray and Matchbox 20).
Maybe I'll watch the episodes with George Clooney- probably what they are hoping for anyway.
