5k

Remember how I mentioned my mom wants us to walk a 5k with her? Remember how I said I wanted to try and run it?

Well, I didn't run it. Maybe now that I am working out regularly I can feasibly consider training for a 5k... but that will have to be another day.

BUT, I did walk it with the family. Two weekends ago my brother came down and I went up to see the rents. We had a fun time walking the race together; it was rainy and cold, but we know how to entertain ourselves... make fun of the man in the all red suit (see pictures below)... talk about the cottage and how it is coming along... talk about school and the GRE...

See, we have a good time.

We also celebrated my parents 37th Anniversary! They have been married for 37 years and Ross and I took them out for a nice dinner. I however failed and did not get a picture of all of us when we were clean and a little bit more well rested.

Oh well! Here are the photos from the weekend:

My mom's co-workers who also ran/walked the 5k.

The family. We were bundled up, trying to stay warm.

Man in the red suit I mentioned earlier... yes it is just plain wrong.

Soda

First of all, to all of you northerners... it is SODA. not Pop. I don't care what you say. I lived in Michigan for 4 years. I still say Soda. That is what it is.

Now, my thoughts of soda (yes, I realize this is a silly post... but go with me here).

I love Coke. If you know me at all... you know that. I don't do Pepsi or other imitation Cola products. I love Coke. My other favorite soda? Barq's Root Beer. Those are my soda's of choice. And most of the time, I have NO self control when it comes to drinking them. Put it in front of me, I suck it down. Get a free refill? You bet I stand in line to fill up my cup on the way out. It is so bad.

But, maybe... just maybe yesterday I have learned my lesson.

You see, I gave up soda for Lent. I have done it before, but I decided it was time to do it again. So, I did. And now I can have it again. Except I have noticed how sick I get after I drink the stuff. Seriously! Ok, ok... I mean, not sick like I am throwing up. But sick like I feel queasy and like my stomach is ten times its normal size.

Yesterday I had a leftover Coke from my parents house in my car. I brought in to drink in the morning. Then we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch. Obviously, had a Coke with lunch and then filled it up on the way out.

I felt soooo sick for the rest of the afternoon. No kidding!! I had a headache because of the sugar overload... plus my stomach was bloated... i just felt gross. So, I think I am going to permanently cut down on my soda intake. Because I didn't like how I felt yesterday. It was no fun.

There ya go... welcome to my random thoughts!
