Dirty Dancing

There are movies, books, TV series, etc that define each generation. Is Dirty Dancing one of those movies for girls my age? I loved, LOVED this movie growing up. Now I watch it and think... what were my parents thinking letting me watch this? But of course I have no clue what was going on. I really liked the dance scene at the end.
